African Fashion on the move.

A couple of years ago we never dreamed of competing with the world but simply wanted to imitate their styles, from the African speech present by former president of South Africa Thabo Mbeki and to African designer dresses walking the red carpet. How the charity case has blossomed!

African fashion has come a long way from being something that tourist took home to hang on their walls, to beautiful clothes that show how fashionable they are and how world class African fashions are. Our designers are innovative, inspired by the beauty around them, and because they are african, they have the right to do traditional garment or modern designs. They have earned their place and are taking advance of these opportunities.

In South Africa, new and old designer are opening boutiques, allowing consumers easy access, plus the ordinary consumer in South Africa is more aware of the clothes they wear and demand more options. South Africans could be seen as a very watchful group of consumers when it comes to internet shopping (they don't trust the person on the other side) which could be one of the reasons why designers here are opening boutiques, for the rest of the continent opening a boutique may not be an option which is why sites are available to sell their designs. Sites like www.dupsies.com/ and www.africafashionguide.com/ provide international markets or consumers with a place to get their hands on Africa. Clothes without having to come to Africa just for one outfit.

I believe that more sites like this are needed, it's about time Africa designers showed the world their talent, we have the best designers and this is our time.
